Does #God really intervene?

If we move from the premise that God created the Universe and everything in it, and most importantly, the laws of nature, isn't it curious then that we want to believe that God can and would change these.

Perhaps prayer in a generic sense is fine. But, when we pray for miracles or a change to the natural order of things, is that realistic? Can, or more importantly, would God intervene to change these, especially if you consider that everything is already a miracle? Bear in mind, also, that a change in one law or natural phenomena, if not occurring 'naturally', would have an unintended knock-on effect or consequences on other laws or natural phenomena, creating a devastating imbalance.

Of course, God, being omniscient, knows this, and being omnipotent, can do anything. It, however, begs this question: why, then, create this delicate and beautiful balance, if in reality it really depends on God's 'whim' and 'fancy'? Why not have an unpredictable system, where no-one would really know what might happen next, for instance the earth's rotation changing unpredictably, or have haphazard seasons all over the world? Or better still, have stars and galaxies flying into each other randomly.

While it is seems a human need to believe or want miracles, surely a rational approach should demonstrate the impossibility of this.

  1. Really thought provoking. It brings to mind the question of Fate Vs Destiny Vs Free will. Quite interesting indeed.
